To make room for more

By Nour Kandalaft

Life has been teaching me lately the power of letting go
It has been forcing me to see things as passing
As if they don’t have a place here anymore
As if they never did, and maybe that’s okay
Maybe some things just aren’t meant to stay
I’m still somehow looking for the courage to do that
To learn to roll with it and release my grip
To not put up a fight with things staying in the past
And God only knows
How hard this chapter has been
Seeing things get dissolved and seeing their end
Missing them before they even started
Learning to say goodbye
Dreams I once had become fragments
Disappearing before my eyes
The versions of myself I no longer hold
The same ones I thought defined who I am
The people I once fought to keep close
Those who left with merely a goodbye
They all go together as if they’re holding hands
The dreams and the people
All of them become a part of the same past
So, I find the courage and everything I need
Gratitude for the things that stayed and didn’t leave
Hoping I’ll find what I’m looking for
Hoping it’ll bring me peace
Hoping letting go becomes easier
And doesn’t create an emptiness I have to feed
Some say acceptance is the key after all
They say letting go always makes room for more
And it makes me wonder what more really means
Is it more to let go of or more in life to keep?
