i riot
in solitary strolls
through showery autumn woods
and honey-hued leaves;
i riot
in the serenity of a misty,
deserted beach,
in the company of cormorants
and gulls, bobbing contentedly
on a prairie of docile waves;
i riot
in the rumble of summer thunder
throughout the dead hours
when the world’s asleep;
i riot
in the flirtatious whispers
of drizzle-bearing breezes
passing through tree crowns ─
the music of pensive souls.
and i riot
in the here and now,
the first breath
of the balance
of my days.
