The Half and One Editorial Fellowship is a three-month, fully remote programme designed to support bold, original voices in fiction, poetry, and narrative non-fiction. Rooted in Half and One’s commitment to building a global literary community, the Fellowship seeks writers who are unafraid to experiment with form, language, and storytelling. Open to emerging and established writers alike, the programme invites applicants to submit a single piece of writing that reflects both craft and creative ambition, with the selected Fellow receiving a $3,000 award. The Fellowship is presented in collaboration with the Directorate of Arts and Culture, strengthening its commitment to nurturing literary talent and cultural expression.
Over the course of the Fellowship, the selected writer will work closely with the Half and One editorial team to develop and publish two original pieces. The process is collaborative and rigorous, offering insight into editorial practices, publishing standards, and audience engagement across an international platform. Beyond the writing itself, the Fellowship also creates space for dialogue, mentorship, and reflection culminating in an online session where the Fellow will engage with creative students from Northeast India, sharing their journey, process, and perspectives.
More than a prize, the Half and One Editorial Fellowship is an investment in storytelling as a force that connects cultures, challenges narratives, and builds communities. In partnership with the Directorate of Arts and Culture, it reflects Half and One’s larger vision of nurturing a new generation of writers while amplifying diverse voices from across the world. For writers looking not only to publish, but to grow, collaborate, and contribute to a larger creative ecosystem, the Fellowship offers both opportunity and purpose.
