Strangler fig wraps its tendrils
around a mighty tree,
Malnourished from
an unforgiving landscape.
It’s cruel, you know,
How one suffocates the other,
clawing upwards
Like wet leaves pressed together
On the forest floor.
By tomorrow, a new layer will settle,
And I, clinging too tightly,
Will lose myself
Entanglement
