May A. Freitas (she/her/ella) is a Native and Latina American writer based in Reno, Nevada. She writes creative nonfiction and poetry which centers around trauma and activism. Her poems "Me Too" and "Mama Bear" were published in Voices Literary Magazine. May earned her BA in creative writing at UC Santa Cruz and her MFA in creative writing at the University of Nevada, Reno at Lake Tahoe (Formally Sierra Nevada University). She currently teaches writing at the University of Nevada, Reno and is a poetry editor at Sierra Nevada Review.
