It was seven days, seven days since his brother’s death and he was numb. He was reeling from his brother’s death when the electronic doorbell went off. A delivery person was there and handed him a box, then a form to sign. Upon signing and receiving it the delivery man told him there was one last item. He went to his delivery truck and pulled out a ladder. “This is for you also.”, said the delivery man. Joe stood blank as he received it, confused by this strange item received. The delivery man left and continued on his route.
Joe set the large ladder by the shed out back, then came inside and opened the box addressed to him. He began opening a letter and a chill went up his spine as he did.
Dear Joe,
“This isn’t much, but I know you have the tools and the ability to fix your house; you just needed a ladder to help with the roof. The photo album and pages are for what you finish so you can take pictures and remember your accomplishments (since you can be very hard on yourself sometimes; then this can give you confidence). If you ever feel alone, just take those pictures out and remember we fixed that house together (like we always talked about). You got this! Let’s get that house fixed. “
Your proud older brother,
Love you bro,
Gary
Finishing the letter he looked over the photo album and seven blank removable pages sent to him by his now deceased brother. He was grateful he was still there with him in this way, and was gonna make the most of this fair weather day spending it with his dearly missed brother, fixing the house.
