Heaven’s Kitchen

By Fathom Rahdralyk

Illustration by Yibeni Tungoe

Admire I do a skin so thick,

Often thin on young illusion

Some peel too as if constant moon burn

I have used them to write on…

I have used them to fire a place,

Chosen to rest …watchful -these open…

More bound pages distorting like tongues

Licked away from too hot chocolate

It could very well snow at this altitude;

I smell it, the snap of windy fingers

An elder eagle lands grasping both,

Sapless branch and flopping meal

It knows I know -just how to be

Asking no queries, wings formulate;

A pleasing pulsed exchange -the fresh die

Nourishes unknown duties of such…

Determined features -treasured maps held,

In commanding advanced eyes

My feathers don’t match yours yet

Perhaps -if you ate me …slowly too;

The further evolve of seer would solve

Your brazen beak of me!  -screams that haunt

Every rock… piercing code to jutted trees that wait

To soldier their unique spy enigmas…

Each ring report a regimental rollick of reach;

Their needles -natural, aromatic and healing

Think I’ll stay even if flurries frequent

I love that this place -never closes

And every spirit cooks in the open…
