Let us go

By Cheveux A

Let us go to the garden and be kids again.
Let us throw stones without casting them.
Let us paw fertile soil and its colorful weeds for flower crowns, ignoring the fruit for harvest.
Let us meet in the garden of Xanadu,
let us lead the vanguard of this new game- it’s not tag,
just very, super, extremely similar.
I’ll chase you if you chase me.
Let us stay in natures hardest hue, green to the rules of man and of nature.
Let us hide together from the monsters, not the ones under our beds-
the ones that lurk and lounge in rooms next to us with alabaster smiles that boom and boast laughter.
Let us unfold the origami parts of you from yesteryear that are tucked carefully in my back pocket, and mine from yours.
From it we’ll build a paper town where nothing stands tall enough for a hard fall- low ceilings with far too much leg room.
This world has grown big and we’ve found too many paths to tread,
unable to find the one,
the right one,
beaten lightly by spritely feet,
that would take us home to the sacred rivers of Alph.
But there’s no fountain of everlasting youth in a world full of thirst and thirsty people, who didn’t know
in a trade war: it’s BYOB from the get-go.
