Shades of blue

By Ramiro Valdes

Shades of blue
Dilute
Through the
Veins of a
Sorrowful
Heart,
A network
Of winter
Roots,
In the cold
Of a loveless
Season,
My veins
Scream for
Love,
At the doctor's
They tell me
I am mildly hypoxic,
Perhaps
It's true,
Loneliness
Can kill,
But my tongue
Is a cemetery
Of unspoken
Words,
"I love you"
Has been killed
A thousand times,
These lips are
Anchored to the
Sands of silence
