What Am I Doing Here?

By Chance Herman

What am I doing here?
I’m not even sure I belong
My reasons don’t seem clear
But sure, I’ll go along

Why is everyone in suits or a dress?
Did I not get the memo?
All of this is adding to my stress
I might as well topple like a domino

I find myself a pew with nobody
Maybe I’ll be safe in this spot
But my choice seems to attract everybody
And now, I have been caught

“How are you”, a gentleman questions
“I’m okay”, I reply
“Well, you’re just in time for the sessions”
Maybe it's not too late to say bye

I try to find an escape route
I find a way through
But right as I am about to check out
“We’re glad to have you”
