Worthy

By April Wakefield Spikener

I would place flowers

at your feet

water you with compliments

and pull the moon from the sky

if you need it.

I’d make the sun rise

on days your life feels dark

and reflect your greatness

back to you

until you believe it.

I’d make the world stop

if you need a moment

to yourself

and hide you from

responsibility

if the days feel like too much.

And I’d hold you

and sing to you

and remind you that you are loved,

with my touch.

I’d make it all stop for you,

or make it go,

whatever you need.

I’d slow it down

or take it fast

you choose the speed.

I’d love you

and I’d listen to you

I’d even make a meal

and serve it.

I’d wait,

or apply pressure

whatever you want

you deserve it.
