The weekend did not start well for Mr. Don Lap, the Road and Transport Minister of the State of Ayalam. No sooner had the minister and his convoy of foreign luxury cars departed a celebratory event for the completion of the improvement of a stretch of road in a constituency hundreds of kilometers away from the capital than they met with an accident.
Bystanders and attendees of the project-naming event, reporters, and locals of the area rushed to the scene of the accident. While some were truly concerned, half just wanted to catch a closer look at the minister’s fleet. A Lamborghini Urus, A Maybach S 650, two Range Rover Evoques, and an MK4 Supra.
First responders were called onto the scene and the cause of the accident was established soon after.
“We have officially eliminated reckless and negligent driving as the cause of the accident,” Comptroller Ess Peepee stated. “The cause was twofold, the roads which the cars were travelling on with such immense speed had a handful of potholes, cracks and poor traction. Also, the MK4 Supra had very low ground clearance, a factor that is not compatible with the roads of the State.
These, coupled with the speed at which they were driving, overtaking a line of cars using their sirens, led to the accident.
The minister and his employees were on their way to an area known as a ‘truckers destination’, where coal-laden trucks park to avoid fines. Interestingly and with no regard for conflicts of interest, half of the trucks are owned by the Road and Transport Minister himself.
Two months prior, a grant had been given to the minister’s department for the rebuilding of highways that ‘are most in need of refurbishing’, and Minister Don Lap chose the road of the ‘truckers destination’ for the same.
A dozen or more cars have been affected due to this accident. A bystander expressed his frustration with the incident to our reporter, “Mr. Don Lap and his fancy schmancy cars overtook us. We thought it was an ambulance siren so we gave way with haste, only to be a victim of an accident that caused a ripple effect, affecting all the cars behind them.”
Mr. Don Lap was asked for a statement shortly, “I am deeply saddened by the events of this morning. I just bought the cars two months ago.”
