Arsalan Chalabi
Arsalan Chalabi was born in 1986 in Bukan, Iranian Kurdistan. He has published 15 collections of poems and fiction in Kurdish, Persian, and Danish. In 2015, he was arrested by the Iranian Intelligence Agency forces and accused of organizing and participating in demonstrations supporting Kobani and the Kurdish people. He fled to Iraq after a temporary discharge. He traveled to Denmark in 2016 to seek political asylum, which was granted. He lives in Denmark.His works in English, Danish, French, Spanish, and Persian have appeared in Flemmes Vives Anthology (Vol. 1, 2017), Recours au Poème (No. 159), The Curlew, Hvedekorn (Vol. 3, 2019), Det Poetiske Bureau, Udkant Magazine, Plenum (Vol. 4), Parnassus Magazine, Nusyar, Dastan, Ny Kurdish Antologi, Hellbender Magazine, Politiken Newspaper, Salt Hill Journal, and LEVITATE. His recognition includes an Honorable Mention for his short story Stage Three in the Roe River Review Editor's Prize 2026.
